Understanding the Centrifugal Pump Thoroughly

Centrifugal pump, just as important as our solvedrilling sand pump and shale shaker, is the one popularized in the whole world, and it is also the one that makes our customers feel amazing and wonderful. Yes, it is the fantastic one.

Today we solvedrilling want to talk about the centrifugal pump.

First, How Does a Centrifugal Pump Work?

To be frank, I tried to explain this issue by my words; however, I found a better one answer from Ask, so I just take it.

“A centrifugal pump uses an impeller as the primary source for its pumping action then the impeller is similar to a fan with a housing that has one small intake and a larger output, which is simply an opening. The impeller is then connected to a spinning rotor that must be moved, either with human or mechanical power, in order to displace fluid, and for the impeller is inside a housing that lets fluid escape to a discharge pipe, where the fluid is pushed after being displaced by the impeller.”

Second, How to Prime a Centrifugal Pump?

“Centrifugal pumps utilize centrifugal force to push water through plumbing systems. A centrifugal pump spins an impeller at fast speeds which sucks in water, then pushes the water through slots or groves to create water flow. Centrifugal pumps need water in order to function correctly. Priming a centrifugal pump prepares the pump for operation before it is turned on. Priming a centrifugal pump requires filling the pump's casing with water so the impeller does not suck air on start up.”

The Following are the Instructions for Centrifugal Pump.

1、Unscrew the pipe or hose leading into the centrifugal pump and remove it. Insert a water hose into the centrifugal pump's casing through the opening left when the pipe or hose was removed.

2、Turn on the water hose to start filling the centrifugal pump's casing with water. Allow the hose to run until water begins to spill back out of the casing through the hole.

3、Shut off the water hose and screw the centrifugal pump's pipe or hose onto the casing. Start the pump to test for correct prime. If the pump does not catch prime, repeat the case filling process until enough water resides in the case for the pump to prime correctly.

After we know how a centrifugal pump works and how to prime a centrifugal pump, now we talk something about the advantages of centrifugal pump.

1. A centrifugal pump takes up little floor space relative to say a plunger pump and weighs comparatively little so minimal structural reinforcement is required for the load bearing floor space.
2.   It has a low initial cost as well as low maintenance cost since all motion is rotary and there are no sensitive parts such as the valves in a plunger pump.
3.   No air vessels or alleviators are required.
4.  It can be keyed directly to a power source as it generally has high working speeds and hence needs no stepping.
5.  A centrifugal pump has the ability to handle muddy, dirty and corrosive liquids it can pump water at temperatures of up to 400 º and circulate oil at high temperatures providing it reaches the pump at high pressure ie. a full pressure system.
6.  There is little if any vibration and the discharge of liquid is continuous and without shock and the flow can be controlled from full flow to no flow without shutting the pump down or damaging the pump or pipes providing suitable switching gear has been installed.

From above information, we know how a centrifugal pump work; and we also knows how to prime a centrifugal pump, as well as the advantages of the centrifugal. As a main manufactory of centrifugal pump, sand pump, shale shaker, etc. High product quality and amazing after-sale service is the one we Solvedrilling wanna give you.

What're The Features of Vertical Centrifugal Pumps

As we all know that the centrifugal pump is a very important part in the oil drilling work. To be frank, maybe there are fewer person could understand how does the centrifugal pump work. So here we Solvedrilling want to share some information about the centrifugal pumps.

Firstly, we shall have a basic understanding of Centrifugal pumps.

“Centrifugal pumps are a sub-class of dynamic axisymmetric work-absorbing turbo machinery. Centrifugal pumps are used to transport fluids by the conversion of rotational kinetic energy to the hydrodynamic energy of the fluid flow. The rotational energy typically comes from an engine or electric motor. The fluid enters the pump impeller along or near to the rotating axis and is accelerated by the impeller, flowing radially outward into a diffuser or volute chamber (casing), from where it exits.
Common uses include water, sewage, petroleum and petrochemical pumping. The reverse function of the centrifugal pump is a water turbine converting potential energy of water pressure into mechanical rotational energy. ” <From Wikipedia>

More information about how the centrifugal pump work, there does have a detailed explanation in Wikipedia, you could have a reference. Click here to get the details.

Now I want to have this chance to talk about the features of our Solvedrilling Centrifugal pumps.

The Solvedrilling Centrifugal pump contains four classical types; there are Vertical pump; Spary pump; Shear pump and Sand pump. Four different types consisted our amazing centrifugal pump. What’re the features of our pumps?
Today I just start to share the features of LSB Series Vertical Centrifugal pump.

1.      The vertical pump which manufactured with special machinery seal technology (patent No.: ZL200720079857.2), has very long service life, reaching internationally advanced level and improved operational reliability;

2.      Its impeller is specially designed to have a wider flow pass and smooth vanes, with larger flow area and smooth fluid pass, making the vertical pump reach the internationally advanced level in pump efficiency and energy-saving, 10% higher than similar products.

3.      The centrifugal pump has adopted a shell thicker than normal one, with rational pass and less turbulence. Impeller and shell are made of high wear resistant cast irons, with service life longer than other products by 50%;

4.      The vertical pump shaft has high strength that can bear certain load, reducing shafts deflection and extending seals service life;

5.      The shaft is lubricated with lubricants and lubricating grease and the oil seal is made of special structure and materials, suitable for high and low temperatures and complicated environment; Front opening structure is used for convenient installation, repair and maintenance.

6.      It is used for special installation circumstance and centrifuge feeding, with two series of LSB100 and LSB2×3, in 9 specifications.

With the amazing features and the awesome shape, I do not think it is a best one, but, at least, it is the better one than those you ever saw.
